Brave New World AP Essay Question

The Question can be found here.

Although I would probably write this question on either Winston of 1984 or Jake of The Sun Also Rises, I would first go about answering the question by making a pre-write in the form of an organized list of the ways Bernard conforms against his better judgement, such as more or less taking part in the decadent love affairs of

his time, or his job of being a hypnopaedia specialist, and his general disgust of the other humans in his society.  I would then elaborate on each of these in a paragraph on why they demonstrate that Bernard would like to go against the World State, and also explain why and how he is still conforming despite himself.  I feel that I will have more details to work off in this when I finish the novel, but this is what I have currently, and that would be why I would do another.  I might also do Huck Finn or The Scarlet Letter.

  1. I would have chosen Bless Me, Ultima because I feel that when we're children we have lots of things that we question but still do. I liked this essay prompt better than most of the other ones that I found, and I'm glad I wasn't the only one that thought of other novels I could write about with this prompt :)

  2. Yeah instead of Brave New World, I would probably choose Biff from Death of a Salesman or Reverend Dimmesdale from The Scarlet Letter.
